A beautifully handcrafted pendant featuring recycled certified eco silver and a striking Fordite cabochon,  a rare and unusual material formed from layers of vintage automotive paint. 
 
Measuring approximately 16 x 38 mm, the pendant hangs from a 18" fine belcher chain, threaded through a handcrafted silver ring.
 
Often known as “Detroit Agate,” Fordite was created during the golden age of American car manufacturing, when layers of paint built up and hardened on the tracks and skids of hand-painted production lines in factories across Ohio and Detroit. Once considered industrial waste, these colourful layers have been salvaged, cut, and polished into beautiful upcycled gemstones with their own rich history.
 
This cut on this piece of Fordite reveals vibrant swirls of dark Grey, Silver grey and shimmering flashes of silver, black and a dark red.
